Kwik Cricket Success

19 junior members from Belhus Cricket Club, including a strong girl's team, enjoyed some kwik cricket fun as all three Belhus teams qualified for the semi-final stages of the annual Essex Association of Boys' Clubs indoor U13 tournament staged at the Eversley Leisure Centre in Basildon on Saturday afternoon (11th March 2006).

The Belhus girls team was led by Rebecca Holyoak and it was Rebecca who led the way with the bat as her team qualified comfortably from Group B, with scores of 20 not out and 27 over the boys from Trekkers youth club.

At the semi-final stage, the Belhus girls team were quickly dismissed for 22, as the Belhus boys team reached their target without loss. Belhus honorary Youth Secretary Julia Squires had the privilege of presenting medals supplied by the Essex of Association of Boys Clubs to the players involved in the final tie. Although the girls team missed out on the medals, they have been awarded commemorative certificates.

The Belhus CC girls squad was as follows: Rebecca Holyoak (capt), Libby Cansdale, Kajal Chopra, Rebecca Glover, Ashley Hall and Amy Squires.
