Holyoak in top form with bat as Belhus improve

November 10, 2006

Stanford U14 A 111-1
Belhus Girls 68-3

The recently formed Belhus girls team put in their best performance yet as they made a good attempt at chasing their target at Grays School on Friday evening (10th November 2006). Stanford’s openers were off to a flyer with Drain reaching 24 in an innings which included three boundaries, supported by Brooks with 25. Drain was run out by a direct hit at the bowler’s end from Ashleigh Hall. However, the momentum was continued through Ben Tarten, who struck one six and one four in an undefeated 23. The most economical Belhus bowlers were Sarah Webb, 0-24 from three overs, Kajal Chopra 0-16 from two and Clara-Jane Smith, 0-8 from one over. Rebecca Holyoak struck a fine undefeated 27 as Belhus reached 35 runs after just four overs, with Holyoak striking four boundaries. Her opening colleague, Amy Squires, was run out for 5, while Hall was bowled by Kellet for one as Stanford clawed their way back into contention. The game finished with Webb undefeated on two runs and Chopra ended on one not out. For Stanford, Kellet and Tarten were the wicket takers with 1-15 and 1-7 respectively.
