Girls in kwik victory over Trekkers Youth Club

For the second successive year, Belhus entered a girls team in the Essex Association of Boys Clubs annual indoor kwik cricket tournament held at the Eversley Leisure Centre, Pitsea, on Saturday (10th March 2007).

Rebecca Holyoak struck a fine half-century for the girls in group one. Although they did not qualify for the final, Belhus Girls enjoyed a fine win over Trekkers B by four wickets in the 5th-6th place play-off. Later in the day, the two Belhus boys' teams met in the final - neither won - the match finished in a tie.

Group 1: Belhus Girls, Belhus B, Trekkers A.
Group 2: Belhus A, Ingatestone and Northlands, Trekkers B.

Results Summary:
Group 1: Belhus Girls 78 all out, Belhus B 80-1; Belhus B 162-3, Trekkers A 41 all out; Trekkers A 104-5, Belhus Girls 102 all out.
Group 2: Belhus A 137-3, Ingatestone and Northlands 35 all out; Trekkers B 40 all out, Ingatestone and Northlands 43-2; Belhus A 177-0, Trekkers B 10 all out.
5th/6th place play-off: Trekkers B 43-4, Belhus Girls 37-2.
3rd/4th place play-off: Trekkers A 43-4, Ingatestone and Northlands 45-2.
Final: Belhus A 84-4, Belhus B 84 all out (match tied – trophies shared).

Belhus Girls Squad:: Libby Cansdale, Rebecca Grover, Ashleigh Hall, Rebecca Holyoak, Rhiannon Jefferies and Amy Squires.
