EABC: Avery cages Essex to draw but Boys Clubs finish undefeated

July 19, 2008

Essex Association of Boys Clubs U12 124-5 (match drawn)

Like the U14s playing on the adjacent ground, the Essex U12s also fielded first as the grammar school reached 35-2 after the first ten overs. A partnership of 72 ensued between M. Clark and Brenson, which took the score to 107 after 22 overs. Clark went on to make 46, which left the visitors a target of 161 in 32 overs. Unfortunately, wickets fell too frequently for any stability to be established as the Boys Clubs had to be content with a draw. Pick of the home bowling was Avery with 1-9 from four overs as Luke Williams top scored for Essex with 31 not out. Events Co-ordinator for the Essex Association of Boys Clubs, Keith Cramner said: "Without doubt the under twelves were very happy with the result as this means they have been unbeaten throughout the season. Well done to all our boys who have represented us this year and we look forward to seeing all the players at our schools fixtures again next year".
