Belhus Sat 2nd X1 105 for 1
Even though this was not Belhus's finest game in the field, they still managed a very comfortable win.Tennyson won the toss and elected to bat on a slightly damp track. It seemed a good decision as the openers were going along nicely, but Al Maidment had other ideas, and his 3 for 37 started a collapse! Sixteen year old Ricki Ellis was introduced to the attack and he bowled 6 fine overs returning 3 for 9 to wipe out Tennyson's resistance.Ian Wright 1 for 13 and Brian Edwards 1 for 3 finished the job.In reply the new opening pair of Mike Randall 38 runs and Tom Thomson 57 not out put on 95 for the first wicket,Belhus going on to win by 9 wickets with 17 overs to spare.Bring on leyton County the league leaders next weekend!!

Another cliffhanger for Saturday 2nd X1
Fords 94 all out
Belhus Sat 2nd X1 95 for 7
After much hard work getting the pitch ready for play Belhus won the toss in a shortened game (30 overs each) and decided to ask Fords to bat. This proved a good decision as the Belhus bowlers got the best of the conditions and wicket.Alan Maidment as miserly as ever taking 2 for 12, Paul Hall 1 for 35, Brad Sheridan 1 for 21, Chris Didd 1 for 20, Brian Edwards 1 for 5 and Ian Wright 1for 1 restricted Fords to 94 all out, 3 run outs and superb fielding especially by young keeper George Brooks helped the Belhus cause. Belhus thought the run-chase would be fairly easy, but were quickly proved wrong as good bowling and fielding by Fords saw a flurry of wickets fall, Tom Thompson with 26 and the experienced John Forrest with 22 steadied the ship along with Gavin Jefferies 19. Needing 4 off the last over Belhus worked the ball around and George Brooks hit the winning run off the very last ball, almost giving his skipper a heart-attack for the second week running with a nail-biting finish!!

Belhus 2nds on the winning trail
Hornchurch Athletic 2nd X1 153 for 7
Belhus 2nd X1 154 for 2
Having won the toss,Hornchurch decided to bat, this seemed to backfire on them,as some really disciplined bowling and fantastic ground fielding by Belhus restricted Hornchurch to around 2 runs per over up till around the 30 over mark.Miserly as ever Al Maidment with 9 overs 1 for 11(3 maidens)Fourteen year old Connor Day on his 2nd team debut 5 overs for only 12 runs,Another fourteen year old Billy Winter bowled 8 overs taking 3 for 32.Brian Edwards with 1 for 35 and Ian Wright 1 for 39 being the other wicket takers. After tea Belhus set about the task of scoring the runs needed for victory in a workmanlike fashion.A great opening parnership of 107 between Tom Thomson 38 runs, and Ben Marns 77 runs provided the platform, and Nick Marns with 19 not out finished the job.Belhus winning comfortably by 8 wickets with 12 overs to spare!

Revenge is sweet for Sat 2nd X1
Belhus Sat 2nd X1 194 for 8
Hornchurh Athletic 2nd X1 193 for 8
After losing by 1 run to hornchurch in the away fixture, Belhus had their revenge in a nail biting encounter at North stifford! Having won the toss Hornchurch elected to bat and were soon in trouble due to Al Maidments superb opening spell of 2 for 19 off his 9 overs. Paul Hall then took 4 for 47, Ian Crane with 26, Davis with 44, and Marks with 30 were the main scorers. Belhus got off to a good start with Tom Thomson (48 runs including 7 fours) and Ben Marns 49(7 fours) putting on 79 runs for the first wicket. In the middle order sixteen year old George Brooks struck a valuable 30 runs(4 fours)to edge Belhus closer to the target. A flurry of wickets put Belhus on the back foot, but a match-winning innings of 17 not out from another sixteen year old Brad Sheridan and 5 not out from fifteen year old Ricki Ellis saw Belhus to victory with only 10 balls to go! Chris Baker also chipped in with an important 18 runs for Belhus.

Sat two's slip up
Leyton County sat 2nd X1 200 for 8
Belhus Sat 2nd X1 125 all out
Belhus travelled to Leyton for this 2nd division encounter, and found Leyton County in good form with the bat. Patel with 55 runs and Akhtar 45 being the main contributors. Jim Robertson with 3 for 35,Brian Edwards 2 for 28, and Mark Sansom in his first game back from university 2 for 29 did the hard work. Belhus lost the openers early, but a 60 run partnership between skipper Ian Wright 32runs(7 fours) and 16 yr old Gavin Jefferies 23 runs, looked to have put them back on track. However a middle-order collapse where 5 wickets fell for the addition of only 11 runs turned the game Leytons way. Only Chris Baker with 17 runs managed to get into double figures, and Belhus fell 75 runs short.

Belhus Sat 2nds soundly beaten
Belhus Sat 2nd X1 144 all out
Rainham Sat 1st X1 145 for 2
Belhus chose the wrong day to have a complete off-day as they were inserted to bat and had a major collapse to be 144 all out, only Jim Robertson in his first game back from injury with 33(four 4's) and young Brad Sheridan with 13 runs, reached double figures! Belhus thought with the bowling attack we had, could still make a game of it,but were sadly mistaken! When the first few edges went flying through slips,it was obvious Belhus had not scored enough runs.Rainham passed the total with only 2 wickets down and plenty of overs to spare.Groom with 53 not out,and Elie 33 not out seeing Rainham safely home.

Saturday 2nds in entertaining game
Goresbrook sat 2nd X1 217 for 8
Belhus sat 2nd X1 159 all out
Goresbrook maintained their 100% winning streak with a hard fought 58 run win at North Stifford.Having been asked to bat,Goresbrook started pretty slowly with some tight economical bowling from Didd and Maidment, youngster Chris Burke scoring a good 45,but once he departed, the Goresbrook skipper Scott Barwick decided to get on with things and scored a rapid 57 to get Goresbrook over the 200 mark. The wiley Brian Edwards with 3 for 27 and John Forrest with 2 for 44,the pick of the Belhus bowlers.Belhus started the run chase fairly well with a finely crafted 56 from Didd (6 fours) getting Belhus on track. However,a middle order collapse saw skipper Ian Wright come to the wicket at 109 for 6,and the run rate climbing,he tried in vain to get Belhus home with 29 not out( 18 balls 6 fours) but unfortunately ran out of partners as Belhus fell short of the target!

Two's back to winning ways!
Belhus sat 2nd X1 124 for 4
Grays and Chadwell 123 all out
In a match which was ultimately reduced to 35 overs due to the rain,Belhus won the toss and decided to bowl,Grays opener Wayne Simmons scored a good 34 and with Colin Richardson getting 33,it appeared Grays may put on a decent score, however a lower order collapse saw them all out for 123.Paul hall with a great spell of straight bowling did the main damage, returning figures of 4 for 30 from his allotted 7 overs,Brian Edwards also weighed in with 2 for 16.Belhus started their reply at a brisk rate, fearing the return of rain. However they neednt have worried,as Chris Didd with a fluent 36 and Lee webber with a flawless 39 not out saw Belhus home by 6 wickets with 10 overs remaining! All credit to both skippers for being patient with the rain and endeavouring to get a game of cricket on.This is the type of spirit in which cricket should be played!

Belhus Sat twos game ends in controversy !
Belhus Sat 2nd X1 266 for7
Barking Sat 2nd X1 254 for 9
Belhus won the toss and decided to bat, it proved to be a good decision as Ben Marns notched up a great 96 runs(one six,14 fours) ably supported by Lee Webber with 41runs(5 fours)119 run partnership with Ben, and 15 year old Mike Fogg 31 runs(4 fours) Belhus posted their highest score of the season! Amid much controversy(which i wont go into here,as we are awaiting the leagues response!) the Barking innings eventually began at allmost 5pm, Al Maidment once again impressed with 2 for 36, ably assisted by Tony Gaylard. Paul hall took 2 for 45 and Lee Webber 3 for 27 late in the innings to leave Barking wanting 13 runs off 11 deliveries when due to a number of things including a pitch invasion by barking players and supporters,Belhus skipper Wright led his team from the field fearing for their safety. If teams like Barking are so desperate to win games that they resort to the type of behaviour witnessed in this game, then let them have the points, Belhus prefer to play the game in the spirit it is intended!

10 man Behus 2's in narrowest of losses
Behus sat 2nd X1 116 for 9
Hornchurch Athletic 2nd X1 117 all out
Belhus playing with only 10 players(due to a non arrival) in this rain reduced 40 over match, did exremely well to bowl Hornchurch out for just 117 on a seamer friendly pitch. Some very tidy bowling from Sheridan and a brilliant 3 for 15 from Al Maidment got Belhus off to a great start, followed by Tony Gaylard with 3 for 46,Paul Hall 2 for 33 and Chris Baker 2 for 5 Hornchurch collapsed to 117 all out, with only Hurford with 48 offering any resistance! Belhus lost wickets at regular intervals, but when skipper Ian Wright joined vice-skipper Brian Edwards(29 runs)in a valuable partnership,Belhus seemed back on track. But when Wright went for 31(19 balls 5fours) Belhus were in trouble again! Gaylard with a quick 23 off 13 balls gave some hope, but in the end the missing player told, and Belhus ended up one run short of the target!
June 11, 2007
Belhus two's register another good win
Belhus sat 2nd X1 94 for 2
Fords 3rd X1 90 all out
Thanks to another fine bowling and fielding display Belhus managed to bowl Fords out for just 90 runs in only 27 overs!
Tony Gaylard in only his first game for the 2nd X1 was magnificent, bowling a fords batsman with his first ball, and going on to take 3 for 28.There was no respite for the Fords batsmen as at the other end the workhorse Al Maidment did his share of the damage, taking 3 for 23 in his 9 over spell.Perhaps Fords thought they would have it easier when 16 year old left armer Brad Sheridan was brought into the attack, but he too uprooted the stumps with his first ball! He finished with 2 for 32 from a fiery 7 over spell,by this time Fords were in deep trouble at 45 for 7,some lusty hitting from Naim got them close to the 100 mark, but Paul Hall entered the attack and quickly mopped the tail up taking 2 for 8 in 5 miserly overs! After tea Belhus started their reply steadily with Nick Marns scoring a patient 21 from some good tight bowling, after he departed Lee Webber in first game back in the 2nds after returning from injury, struck a fluent 34 not out to see Belhus home by 8 wickets with 22 overs to spare.

belhus 2nd X1 in satisfying win
Leyton County 2nd X1 141 all out
Belhus 2nd X1 142 for 2
Leyton County won the toss and decided to bat, this decision soon looked to be the wrong one as Belhus with what skipper Ian Wright described as"our best and most motivated fielding display yet" proceded to dismantle Leytons innings.Al Maidment once again lead from the front bowling his 9 overs on the trot and taking 2 for 31,Paul Hall ably supporting him with 2 for 26.Leyton were in trouble at 66 for 6,but a dogged partnership got them over the 100 mark, until a double bowling change saw Brian Edwards 2 for 9 and Nick Marns 2 for 10 end the resistance.Patel with 35 was Leytons top scorer.Belhus soon proved that there were no fears in the wicket getting off to a flying start.Nathan Turner carried his bat through to the end with a brilliant 77 not out (10 fours,2 sixes) and was given help by Ben Marns with a quick 26.Belhus passed the total with ease, only 2 wickets down, and still 20 overs to go.Thus a very deserved win by 8 wickets.
May 28, 2007
Belhus 2nds in close defeat
Belhus 2nd X1 198 for 9
Hornchurch Athletic 3rd X1 199 for 9
In a closely fought game that Belhus managed to hand to the opposition Belhus batted first, with Matt Vallis again scoring an impressive 35, Brian Edwards 22 and youth player Michael Fogg a brilliant 42, Belhus got to 139 before the slump began. It was left to the tailenders to bring some respectability to the total. Paul Hall 34 not out and Al Maidment 8 not out getting the score to 198. Hornchurch lost wickets regularly and were 125 for 9 before their tailenders also staged a recovery and saw them home by one wicket. It was not easy bowling in the pouring rain with a sodden ball for Belhus. Maidment 2 for 31, Edwards 3 for 32 and Ryan Lucas 3 for 37 were the wicket takers.

Best of the bowlers was Jim Robertson with 5 for 34,ably assisted by Chris baker with 3 for 23 and Al maidment 1 for 18 and Paul Hall 1 for 34,all bowlers having bowled their full quota of 9 overs each. Chasing a small target,Belhus did not have things their own way,and found themselves 64 for 5,with Ben Marns 19 the only score of note. However "stand-in" skipper Brian Edwards with 24 valuable runs, and Baker with a good 28 not out saw Belhus home by 3 wkts with 14 overs to spare.

Lords International League vs May & Baker 2nd XI - 19/08/06
Belhus 2nd XI 165/8
May & Baker 166/8
A close encounter for Belhus 2s ended with a narrow defeat to promoted May & Baker at South Ockendon Rec on Saturday.
On a difficult track, Belhus were inserted and made a very useful 165/8 in their 45 overs. Opener Matt Clark was top scorer with 31 with Lee Webber and skipper Peter Clark hitting 26 and 25 respectively.
Belhus got off to a great start defending the total as the openers used the new ball to great effect. Chris Didd and Alan Maidment took 2 wickets each to put the visitors on the back foot.
But some missed chances in the field by Belhus cost them as May & Baker edged home dispite a fine spell of bowling at the death from Michael Campbell-Jones who took 3 wickets for 34.
Lords International League vs Hornchurch Athletic 2nd XI - 12/08/06
Belhus 2nd XI 234 for 7 (43 overs)
Hornchurch Athletic 2nd XI 105 all out (32.1 overs)
Belhus 2's saved there best performance of the season for this must win encounter with close rivals Hornchurch Athletic. After losing the toss and being inserted, Belhus lost opener Webber early but an elegant 45 (8x4) from Tom Thompson put them back on track. When the conditions worsened from fine drizzle to heavy rain the players left the field with Belhus on 113 for 3 off 31 overs. The weather reduced the game to a 43 overs per side competition and the undeafeated batsmen Peter Clark (20) and Scott Bayford set about upping the run rate. Further aggressive cameos from Ryan Lucas, Brian Edwards and Michael Fogg supported the magnificent Bayford who ended up on 93 not out (11x4) as Belhus closed on 234 for 7, Ian Crane was A's most successful bowler with 3 for 27.
In response Hornchurch tried to play some big shots from the start, but the tight ring field set by Captain Clark left no room for error and lack of runs forced basic errors from the Athletic line up. The tight opening spell from big Al Maidment (1-26) and fine presicion line of Aussie seamer Michael Campbell-Jones (2-24) left Hornchurch on 56 for 3 from 18 overs and the introduction of left arm spinner Brian Edwards and medium pacer Ian Wright caused further constenation in the Hornchurch line up as wickets began to tumble on a regular basis. When Fogg snapped up last batsman Mark with a fine catch standing up to Wright, Hornchurch had folded for a paltry 105. Ian Wright ended with 3 for 18 and Brian Edwards 3 for 29. Captain Peter Clark was enthused by the performance "what a great win, we truly dominated the day, the fielding was tight and catches held, the day belongs to Scott Bayford, 93, 3 catches and a run out to boot, sure he will remember this one for some time". News filtered through that may & Baker had won at Tennyson meaning that in spite of this great victory Belhus 2's will remain in Divsion 2 next season, on Saturday they entertain May & Baker at Ockendon Rec.
Lords International League vs Noak Hill - 05/08/06
Belhus 2nd XI 299/5
Noak Hill Taverners 300/2
Belhus second string lost their first game in seven matches after a heavy defeat to the hands of top of the table Noak Hill.
On what was a great track with a lightning outfield, Belhus smashed 299 runs in their 45 overs with superb centuries from Mason Wren and Nathan Turner. Both were out for 111 and their 205-run partnership created the bulk of the home sides total.
However, their efforts were all in vein as Noak Hill blitzed their way to the required total due to some woeful bowling from the Belhus attack. Noak Hill opener Sandip Muraleedharan was the star of the show hitting 145 not out andd seeing the away side home comfortably.
July 17, 2006
Lords International League vs Goresbrook 2nd XI - 15/07/06
Goresbrook 2nd XI 174/8
Belhus 2nd XI 175/8
Another great victory for Jim Robertson’s men in the second string was welcomed against division high fliers Goresbrook and gained revenge for their defeat to them earlier in the season.
Goresbrook got off to a solid start and didn’t lose a single wicket until after the halfway stage. But some good tight Belhus bowling restricted the visitors to just 174/8 off their allotted 45 overs. Brothers Mason and Clarke Wren picked up 5 wickets between them with figures of 3/24 and 2/30 respectively.
Belhus were always ahead of the run rate in reply, but lost wickets at regular intervals and did well to grab victory. Mason Wren completed a great all round performance by hitting a fine 62 and along with Scott Bayford who made 53, set the foundations for a Belhus win seen home by Robertson.
Skipper Peter Clark is looking to return this weekend after 4 weeks out with injury.
Lords International League vs Harlow Town 2nd XI - 08/07/06
Harlow Town 2nd XI 127 all out
Belhus 2nd XI 131/4
Belhus 2nd XI made it 3 wins on the bounce after another strong display on an indifferent batting track over at Harlow Town. Belhus stand-in skipper James Robertson made the brave decision to field first and he led from the front with a fine spell of opening bowling along with young Bradley Sherridan.
Robertson ended with splendid figures of 2/10, but leading wicket taker was Clarke Wren who produced figures of 4/19. Ryan Lucas also picked up a couple of the home team wickets.
The Belhus reply got off to a great start with openers Nathan Turner and Tom Thompson. Turner finished top scorer with 52 while Thompson made 23. Lee Webber saw Belhus home with a fine 35 not out.

Lords International League: vs Noak Hill 03.06.06
NOAK HILL 2nd XI 305 all out
BELHUS 2nd XI 194 all out
Belhus put on a brave face after being savaged by some big hitting from the home batsmen in this Lord's International divison two league fixture at Church Road on Saturday. Requiring 306 to win, Belhus were 90-1 from just 13 overs and a thrilling match looked to be a real prospect. Ben Marns struck a fine 47, which included no fewer then eight boundaries, while Tony Udell did not stand on ceremony either with an attacking 39 from an innings which included one six and two fours. However, the Belhus resistance suffered a damaging collapse to 121 for 6 from which recovery was virtually impossible, despite James Robertson's defiant undefeated 30 which included four boundaries. Earlier, O. Raja and A. Raja had caned the visiting attack with 83 and 46 respectively. Colllectively, Noak Hill managed to clear the boundary on no fewer than 15 occasions, yielding a total of 90 runs alone. Despite the mayhem around him, fifteen year old Clarke Wren was unfazed to steady the Belhus ship with 3-32. Ryan Lucas took 4-63.

Belhus beat Noak Hill 2-0 after bowl out
Belhus went through to the semi final of the League Cup after claiming a tense bowl out win away at Noak Hill.
After reluctantly choosing to play a reduced 18 overs a side game in the swamp like conditions, Belhus struggled to 69/8 with Chris Didd top scoring with 14.
But during the tea interval, the heavens opened yet again and it was decided that a bowl out was the only way a result could be achieved.
With 7 players having one attempt at one stump, luck played a very important role and after 5 attempts from each team, the score was still 0-0.
Then up stepped Roy Heffernan who converted his chance giving Belhus the lead and putting the pressure firmly on the home side.
And with Noak Hill missing their 6th attempt, it was up to Tom Thompson to seal the win with the single stump flying out of the ground to the delight of Belhus and their travelling supporters.

Saturday 22 April:Friendly vs Nazeing Common
Belhus 2nd XI 203/9
Nazeing Common 95/9
Belhus 2nd XI couldn’t match the success of the 1st team after only managing a draw away to Nazeing Common.
Skipper Peter Clark won the toss and had no trouble in deciding to bat first. He opened up with Matt Clarke and got Belhus off to a flying start. Captain Clark made 38 while his partner made 45 including a huge six over long-on.
After the good start, wickets fell at regular intervals and it was left to Brian Edwards to steer Belhus over 200 with a fine 46.
Belhus were always in control of the game and were prevented the win after some confusion as to when the final 20 overs were to be bowled.
Pick of the Belhus bowlers however was Clark Wren with splendid figures of 6-39 but it wasn’t good enough to snatch victory and Nazeing shut-up shop when victory was no longer a possibility.
Clark will be pleased with his teams performance with the league season approaching.

In fine support was Alan Maidment, 4-35 from 9 overs (one maiden). Snaresbrook were reeling at 45-9, but a dropped catch temporarily let the home side off the hook, though it took only one ball from change bowler Scott Bayford to complete the demolition. Sunday Two's Triumph
Belhus 265 - 7
Havering Atte Bowe 217 all out
The Belhus second string enjoyed a fine win at Havering on Sunday. Batting first Belhus got off to a flyer as Paul Huckstepp (38) smashed a six off of the first delivery he faced. Huckstepp and opening partner Richard Dopson ensured Belhus were going to set the home side a stiff target. After Huckstepp fell Dopson powered onto an excellent innings of 81 including 14 fours and two sixes in a fine display of big hitting. Dopson was joined by young 14 year old Michael Fogg who played a fine innings of 65. The youngster was certainly not overawed and the wicket keeper batsman is showing excellent promise. The Belhus batting fell away a little after these two fell but 265 was a steep target as the visitors declared.
None the less Havering were not daunted and set off in pursuit at a furious pace. It was left to Belhus skipper Jim Banner to halt the home side charge as his subtle variations of flight and guile reeled in excellent figures of 5 for 55 to ensure Belhus came home as victors by 48 runs. Young Fogg capped a great day by adding to his runs by taking two fine catches behind the stumps.
