Belhus 3rd XI 161 all out
Mathew Lewis (snr) and Michael Fogg struck 66 and 33 respectively for Belhus, but it was not enough to stave off a heavy defeat in this forty overs per side match at North Stifford on Saturday. Lewis senior struck ten fours and faced 57 deliveries, while Fogg's 33 came from just 28 deliveries. He fell just six runs short of a deserving century when he was masterfully stumped by wicketkeeper Darren Frampton off the bowling of Mathew Lewis junior, who finished with 1-13 from two overs. T. For St. Johns, wily veteran Cripps returned 3-32 from five overs, one of which was maiden, J. Cox claimed 3-27 from eight overs (two maidens), while T. Brown, Stephens, A. Brown and P. Sat 3rds: Crown is King with maiden 50
Northfleet 148-3
Belhus 3rd 126-4
In a rain affected game at North Stifford on Saturday, this friendly encounter reduced to thirty overs per side still produced two outstanding performances. Firstly Northfleet captain and opening bat Tim Stanley scored 80 out of a total of 148, then under 15 Callum Crown of Belhus scored his first 50 in any form of cricket from 58 deliveries, in an innings which brought up his 50 from the final ball of the match and he hit three boundaries in the process. A feature of his innings was some excellent running between the wickets. Crown was ably partnered in an unbroken fifth wicket stand of 60 with another under-15 player, Ben Palmer, who struck 25 from 29 deliveries. Earlier, L. Phillips gave valuable support to his skipper with 22 not out as Owen Jefferies took 1-19 from five overs of spin while Max Scott and Brian Edwards both returned figures of 1-28. For Northfleet, N. Belhus 3rd XI 245 for 4

Darren Frampton came in at 3, and put on a respectable 91 partnership with Ruck until one sweep too many saw Frampton sky one up in the air to Groves in Mid-Wicket for 42 runs. Barry Ruck continued to dominate the bowling and accompanied by Gavin Jefferies 34 Not Out reached his maiden century in some style, and in refusing to give his wicket away remained unbeaten on 106.
Orpington began confidently with Groves, and Patkinson shining to the pace of Ian Havard, until Havard answered back by removing the off stump of Patkinson for 18. Paul Hall bowling 15 consecutive overs remained very economical throughout ending up with 15 overs for 38, and removing Smith LBW for 25. Sat 3's Win at Old Cofeians
Old Corfeians 168 for 5
Belhus 169 for 8

Belhus dominated the early proceedings putting pressure on the OC top order with some terrific line and length bowling from Connor Day ending up with 10 overs for 30 runs, and Darren Wells with a great spell of 14 overs for 30 runs, taking 2 wickets. The first change bowler Mike Anderson 14 overs for 2 wickets finally made the breakthrough forcing Frenshaw to nick one through to the keeper. Belhus continued to put the pressure on until Moir 78 Not Out who started very cautiously began to get his eye in, and a few wickets later accompanied by Aoulphe 38 finished up with a respectable 168 for 5 wickets from their 40 overs.
Belhus replied with Barry Ruck 28 runs, and Darren Frampton 34 runs creating a solid foundation. Upon losing their first wicket on 73 Alex Jennings 23 runs came to the crease, and swiftly moved the score onto 108 off of 27 overs. Just as Belhus were starting to look as if it was a simple run chase the wickets started to fall, and if not for the calm headed youngsters Ben Palmer with 12, and Daniel Dreher with 21 Not Out it may have been a disappointing finale. Belhus eventually won a very tight game in the very last over with Daniel Dreher playing a majestic cover drive for four.

Lords International League vs Hawks 3rd XI - 08/07/06
Belhus 3rd XI 211 for 9
Hawks 3rd XI 211 for 9
Belhus traveled to table topping hawks confident of stretching the league leaders, the home side managed to keep their unbeaten record but not quite how they imagined. The home side won the toss and asked the visitors to bat, at 95 for 1 after just 15 overs the decision was looking dubious. Roy Heffernan (49)and Mason Wren (39) had punished the opening attack with a series of boundaries.
However, both Belhus batsman fell to the first ball they faced from hawks skipper Mohammed Osman. The visitors slumped to 135 for 6. Throughout this however Chris Baker batting at 4 stayed cool and with assistance from the tail took the score to 181 for 9. Terry Squires (9 not out) and Dale Kenyon 17 not out added 30 runs for the last wicket.
Belhus took a wicket with the 2nd ball however an eight run partnership between Leroy (67) and Brown (44) seemed to have put the home side in control. The Belhus bowlers kept at their task and wickets continued to fall. The tide seemed to have changed in the visitors favour when youth player Dale Kenyon took a superb diving catch. The Belhus bowlers Wren 2-42, Mike Squires 3-57 and Roy Heffernan 2-21 controlled the score to 203 for 9 at the beginning of the final over.
The tension rose once Skipper Osman had hit a 4 off the 2nd ball and requiring 3 to win off the final delivery the tail enders managed to scramble 2 for the game to be tied. Both sides could be content with their afternoons work, Hawks maintained their unbeaten record and Belhus knew that they were the only side to push them so close all year.
Lords International Leage vs Goresbrook 3rd XI - 01/07/06
Belhus 3rd XI 110 all out
Goresbrook 3rd XI 114/4
Due to the weekend of world cup football, the Belhus 3rd XI side contained a wide variety of cricketing ability but none the less, put up a gallant display against a strong Goresbrook side.

Gorsbrook responded by knocking off the runs rather easily and won the game by 6 wickets. Michael Squirrel Cambell-Jones was pick of the Belhus bowlers grabbing a couple of wickets at the cost of 22 runs.
June 26, 2006
Lords International League vs Hornchurch Athletic 24/06/06
Belhus 3rd XI 186 all out
Hornchurch Athletic 3rd XI 190 for 9
This encounter turned out to be the closest finish that both clubs had been involved in for many a season.
However with Belhus's having won the toss and elected to bat, the tension that was to follow could not be foreseen as Matt Clarke (66) and Richard Dopson (45) put on 116 for the 1st wicket of just 21 overs. At this stage a large total was looming. Once both openers were dismissed in quick succession the visitors middle order collapsed. In a space of 8 overs 7 wickets fell for the addition of just 15 runs. This included 3 wickets in Bailey's final over of his 9 allowed.
Ruck (20) and Sheridan (15) added 36 for the 8th wicket with Mike Squires adding a further 13 to at least reach a total for the Belhus bowlers to bowl at.
The score on a small fast outfield was certainly a disappointment to the Belhus side. Jones (36) and Sami (57) got the home side off to a steady start always being up with the required run rate without any difficulty. Even once Jones fell to the slow spin of Squires, Athletic progressed to 134 for 3, with two more wickets to Squires (3 for 34) and still looked in control.
Enter Brian Edwards slow left hand bowling and a similar fate befell the Athletic middle and lower order batting as had their opponents earlier in the day. In his 9 over spell edwards with 5 for 27 reduced the homeside to 168 for 9. Only Higgins with 20 showed any ressistance.
Belhus were now in control and firm favourites for victory however, they only had themselves to blame for not completing the task as tail ender Levin was dropped 3 times before along with Carvana (16) Athletic hit the winning runs with 4 balls to spare.
Lords International League vs Havering Atte Bower 17/06/06
Belhus 3rd XI 276 for 5
Havering Atte Bower 3rd XI 161 all out
Belhus returned to winning ways with an emphatic 115 run victory at South Ockendon.
It did not seem such a forgone conclusion when Havering opening bowler Hitash had removed the first 3 home batsman with the score on 51.
This however brought Lee Webber and Matt Vallis to the crease, who through a 36 over period put on 223 for the 4th Wicket. Vallis hitting 3 huge sixes and 12 fours remained undefeated on 100. Webber fell just 2 short of his century in the final over as he dragged a wide ball onto his stumps.
When it came the visitors turn to bat they never looked likely to challenge the total but none the less batted sensibly and made the Belhus attack work hard for their wickets.
They finally succumbed after 38 overs for 161 Thanks to a fine knock of 48 from Minesh batting at 9. Scott Bayford with 3-52 was the top wicket taker with Mike Squires and Michael Campbell Jones bagging a brace.

Belhus Juniors shine in Threes
Leyton County 201 All Out
Belhus 135 all Out
A Young Belhus side including 6 under 15 players acquited themselves well in
this league fixture. Infact if it wasn't for the number of catches put down by
the home side victory could well have been within their grasp.
County scored rapidly at the beginning of their innings but after the loss of
Felix (30) and Yasochmaran (49) The Belhus bowlers held the opposition in tack,
Leyton loosing their final Wicket on the last ball of the allotted 45 Overs.
Colt Dales kenyon with 4-50 was the main wicket taker supported by Under 15
Colleague Bradley Sheridan 2-44 and Barry Ruck 2-27.
In Reply at 83 for 3 Belhus Looked in contention, however with the loss of Ian
Wright 31 and Mike Inns 25, the county bowlers soon cleaned up the youthfull
but inexperienced Belhus tail. Yasochmaran completed an excellent day taking 4
for 20 of just 4 overs, there was also 2 wickets each for Ahmed, Mamood and
Akhtar.

Lords International League: vs Barking 03.06.06

Two Barking batsmen achieved a century in this Lord's International division three league clash, Khan struck 159 and Francis 129. Toiling away for Belhus were Matthew Lucas 3-27, Luke Webber 1-77 and Ian Wright 1-36. After the break, Webber top scored with 37, being well supported by skipper Barry Ruck with 23.

The visitors despite loosing an early wicket themselves were in control and looked comfortable to achieve their target, at least until Nathan Turner 79, was 4th out with the score on 142. Turner who openned the batting took a while to settle on the low bouncing wicket, but thereafter hit 13 4's and a 6 on an exceptionally large outfield.

Defeat by Goresbrook

Goresbrook 3rd XI 128-4
Despite the best batting efforts of John Roberts, 29, Tony Udell, 36, Chris Udell 19 not out and Michael Fogg with 11 runs, Belhus went down by six wickets at home to Dagenham-based Goresbrook CC. Belhus had little resistance to Rafiq 3-24, Patel 2-14 and Mitcheson 2-8. Yet earlier, things had looked promising as Roberts and Tony Udell had put on 47 for the second wicket. Goresbrook were guided to victory by undefeated crease occupancy by Gieson, 33, and Williams, who was just two runs away from a half-century. Belhus continued to bat sensibly throughout the remaider of their allotted 48 overs to reach 228. Tony Udell with 35 and a quickfire 42 from Ryan Lucas, which included two huge sixes, were the mainstays of the middle order. For the visitors, J Boulton completed a mammoth spell of bowling of 22 overs with figures of 5 for 88. He was well supported by G Joynes, 12-2-68-3.
With some excellent support in the field, Lucas (12-1-47-5) and Udell (9-1-34-2), showed their ability with the ball by inducing a collapse after Athletic had reached 62-1. Belhus junior member Clark Wren also bowled well with 8-3-21-2 to see Belhus through to a well deserved victory.

Hawks 3rd XI 102 for 7
Hawks finally emerged victorious in this low scoring and tense encounter by three wickets in the Lord's International Cricket League. However, Belhus made a tremendous effort in the field as they tried to make up ground after being dismissed for just 99 runs. Belhus skipper Barry Ruck scored 19 and Michael Squires, having just passed his cricket coaching examination with the Essex Cricket Board, top scored with 20 in an otherwise disappointing batting display. Thriller at Mersea Island
West Mersea 170 all out
Belhus 3rd XI 171 for 7
Belhus third eleven travelled across Essex for this fixture on Mersea Island, both clubs took the opportunity to sprinkle their sides with junior members, in what turned out to be an encounter that swung to and fro and resulted in a thrilling finale. West Mersea, batting first, raced to 63 for 1 in just 8 overs (Pryke 26, Srinivasan 24) until Mike Squires took 4 wickets in his first two overs.
Woodley, 30 Sandersen 28 and Fahie 38 steadied the ship and saw the home side through to 170 all out after 36 out of the 40 overs maximum. Terry Squires made it a good day for the family by taking two wickets. Any possible victory for the visitors looked remote in the extreme when thanks to 3 wickets in the first 2 overs initially reduced Belhus to 12 for 5 wickets from just 6 overs. This brought Tony Udell (61) and Barry Ruck (63 Not Out) to the crease. They added 138 over the next 30 overs, until Udell fell caught behind with just 21 required for victory. However, Ruck, remained undefeated and saw the visitors home to an incedible victory with just seven balls to spare. Belhus CC would like to thank West Mersea CC for being such marvellous hosts at short notice and we look forward to meeting the West Mersea team again next season.

Belhus falter at Home
Belhus 110 all out
Chadwell Heath 112 for 3
For the second week running the Belhus batsmen all got starts to their innings but could not capitalise against an accurate Chadwell Heath attack on an interesting pitch in South Ockendon. Paul with 4-47 was the pick of the Bowlers with Brian and Doug Hammond claiming two wickets each. It required a quick fire 23 from Steve Day to at least give the home side's bowlers a target. However, a fine 46 not out from Andy Wallce saw the visitors to victory with the loss of three wickets.

First Defeat
Belhus 3rd XI 132 all Out
Hornchurch Athletic 134-2
The Belhus 3rd side crashed to their first defeat of the season against table
topping Athletic. Belhus, the visitors, lost the toss and despite all the middle
order batsmen reaching double figures, none went on to capitalise. The total of
132 never looked sufficient, Ryan Lucas top-scored with 22 with the home
side's accurate pace attack of Hawkins 5-35 , McKinley 3-60 and Boulson 2-25
always being on top.
Hornchurch initially struggled at 36 for 2 but a fine knock from skipper Watkins
(71 not out) supported by Higgins (27 not out) saw the home side through to a
comfortable victory and they still head the Lords International division four table.
