2007 Selection Policy for Belhus Cricket Club

The selection committee consists of this seasons five senior team captains and meets at 8 pm on a Tuesday at North Stifford. Please ensure that you make your availability known to one of the captains before Tuesday. If you go away on holiday or miss a weeks cricket it is your responsibility to let the captain know when you are available after your return. If you are unsure of your availability say no until you are sure and try to let the captains know before Tuesday. Saying yes because you think you are helping out the club and then pulling out causes more trouble than just saying no.

The teams will be selected from the available members on Tuesday (if you have not made yourself available you will not be selected) and we will aim to inform all players by Wednesday of the time and whereabouts of their meeting.

Thursday will now be used as a cut off day. If anyone pulls out of a match after Thursday without a valid reason, this will be recorded. In the event of re-occurrence, they will be suspended from selection for one week. In the event of a third occurrence, this will result in non-selection for the remainder of the season.

Obviously the team captains will do their best to ensure that, after informing players of their teams and meet times, these are not changed and as long as the above rule is adhered to this should not be a problem.

MEET TIMES

Your captain will aim to let you know your meet time and place by Wednesday. Meet times are there to ensure teams arrive to away games at least 45 minutes before the start and an hour before home games to ensure that all duties (boundary, stumps, sightscreens, painting lines, chairs, tables, etc) are carried out and that there is time for 30 min warm up before the match. Turning up late without a valid reason is disrespectful to your team mates and has to stop. As a result of which the captains will be enforcing the following rule.

If you turn up 15 mins after the meet time without giving the captain a valid excuse there will be a £1 fine to go into the box in the clubhouse. If you have agreed with the captain to go straight to the ground you will be expected to arrive 45 minutes before the start time unless agreed with the captain. A £1 fine will be levied if you arrive later.

I am sure you will agree that these rules are fair and have been put into place to enable the club to run smoothly and to avoid personal disruption to the build up of matches.

PLEASE NOTIFY YOUR AVAILIBILTY IN ONE OF THE FOLLOWING WAYS

1) Verbally to your current Team Captain after a game so he can enter it onto the Team Sheet for future reference.

2) Onto the availability board in the Clubhouse

3) To any of the Team Captains as set out in the Committee and Club Officers page.
