Indoor Junior and Youth Coaching at Grays School - Full Details and Booking Form
Belhus Cricket Club endorses the youth coaching programme being staged at The Grays School Media Arts College, starting in January 2009, which is organised by the regional branch of our governing body, the South Essex District Cricket Board.
The ten week courses will commence on Sunday 11th January 2009 and continue eack week thereafter up to and including Sunday 29th March 2009, with the exception of 15th and 22nd February due to half-term holidays.
There are three courses each Sunday. At 2pm, there is coaching for players of school years 7-9 inclusive, at 3pm more older players, ideally school years 10-12, while at 4pm we concentrate on core skills training for younger and inexperienced players, sometimes referred to as "Basic skills" though the course tests our coaches as much as the juniors as we teach fundamental techniques that will hold a player in good stead for the rest of his or her playing career. This course should be attended by beginners before attending the other courses that are primarily net based.
The courses are open equally to girls.
Previous courses have been very popular with a large contingent of Belhus CC juniors attending; we hope that this trend will continue for 2009. You will find a few of the Belhus CC coaches in attendance and the course is administered by our own youth chairman, Cliff Cansdale, who will be pleased to answer any queries that you may have.
For safety reasons, the number of entrants will be limited and therefore places are accepted on a "first come first served" basis. The booking form, which also contains more information about the courses, is available here, from the coaching page of the South Essex District Cricket Board website.

Belhus U11s play Floodlit Cricket at County Ground - Featured on England & Wales Cricket Board Website
Belhus CC U11 junior members got the chance to play in Essex County Cricket Club's mini matchplay kwik cricket event at the Ford County Ground, Chelmsford, on Friday 1st September 2006. For the first time, the event switched from its Sunday morning slot to become a floodlit event for the very first time.
The team was managed by Gavin Jefferies and a very enjoyable evening was had by all, parents, players and coaches alike. Photographs taken at the event will be shown on the gallery of this website as soon as they become available.
The event has been featured on the England and Wales Cricket Board's website, with a photograph being published showing a Belhus match in progress. Gavin Jefferies is identifiable by the yellow Essex one-day top being worn. To see the article, click on the link below.
